Tyler Henry is bringing his ever-growing waitlist of clients to a live Netflix TV show.

On “Live from the Other Side with Tyler Henry,” which premieres on Netflix on Sept. 17, the 28-year-old will give psychic readings to surprise celebrities.

The show will air each Tuesday for eight weeks, with episodes dropping at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT, and will give viewers an “unedited” view of these often emotional interactions.

The format "allows people to not only appreciate the readings but also appreciate the process, and actually teach how these impressions come to me," Henry tells TODAY.com.

After watching the show, he hopes “people in their own lives can refine their intuition and perhaps see signs in their own way.”

Ahead of his first foray into live TV, Henry says he’s excited to “push the envelope” and demonstrate his ability in a “vulnerable way.”

“(Live streaming has) never really been done in the world of mediumship in such a way where we’re going to have such a large viewership. It’s going to be so spontaneous. That’s really why I wanted to do it,” Henry says.

Who is Tyler Henry?

Tyler Henry has made a living as a psychic medium.

This is Henry’s second Netflix series and third TV show overall. On the E! series “Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry,” which began when he was 19, he connected with celebrities’ departed loved ones. E! is owned by NBCUniversal, TODAY's parent company.

In the 2022 Netflix series, “Life After Death with Tyler Henry,” Henry did readings for regular folks. He also shared more of his personal history, including his relationship with his mom (and "best friend"), Theresa Koelewyn, and partner, photographer Clint Godwin.

He’s also written books, headlined multiple live tours and launched his own interactive streaming platform, The Tyler Henry Collective, where he gives group and individual readings.

During an appearance on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna, he correctly predicted Jenna would one day have a third child, a boy.

Speaking to TODAY.com, he explains he believes his psychic gifts were given from a spiritual guide.

“I often ask, ‘Why did you develop a relationship with me?’ Because I think a lot of people have guidance that’s untapped," he says.

He's not sure if his abilities come down to "nature vs. nurture," or "being an only child left to (his) own devices."

But he believes that we all can have a relationship with a higher form of being who can inspire us to “reach our full potential.”

What will happen on ‘Live from the Other Side with Tyler Henry’?

On the show, Henry says he will connect celebrities with deceased loved ones. He won’t know who he’s reading ahead of time. Each star will also bring along a non-celebrity to participate.

Long before each reading begins, Henry starts his preparation process.

“People are surprised to find that about 24 hours before a reading even happens, it actually kind of begins. I start getting impressions and feelings and it can be very overwhelming,” he says. “I kind of go into an inner underworld of sorts. As I go into this descent, I basically meditate. I’m very open,” he says.

To concentrate further, he tries to reduce any potentially distracting stimuli, including sounds or strong smells.

“I really just try to kind of hermetically seal myself before I do readings,” he says.

Henry takes a more intense approach to unwinding after a reading.

“I’ll listen to really loud music. I’ll go do things that are very sensory as a way to kind of bring myself back into my body, which allows for some degree of structure,” he says.

What happens during a reading? He explains

Henry says he first started having psychic experiences when he was 10 and had a premonition that his grandmother was going to die, he told the Asbury Park Press.

Over time, he’s learned to “navigate those two realms,” he says to TODAY.com.

“I liken it to a volume dial in the sense that there’s always some degree of background noise, whether it’s tuning into my environment or the residual effects of someone I just interacted with,” he says. “When I do a reading I kind of consciously turn that volume dial up.”

The medium likens the experience of doing a reading to “lapsing into a state of being.” Henry may get mental or physical impressions, or even a “knowingness,” during a reading. Sometimes, the messages he receives are very vivid, while other times they’re a bit more fuzzy.

“I might have a very strong mental impression that feels like a memory, but it’s not mine, and I know objectively it’s not mine. When I start getting those sensations, that’s usually a good indicator that information is starting to seep up through the subconscious that I believe is not mine, that I genuinely feel is a message of some sort from some greater place,” he says.

The process also comes with a host of physical effects, including sweating. In recent years, the medium has also encountered health challenges that were unrelated to his line of work, including a collapsed lung and a brain cyst near the base of his brain.

“My job has taught me the importance of moderation and how you can only really give to others if on some level you’re able to refill your own cup and sustain oneself,” he says. “I think so many people who work in any form of energy exchange are very inclined to put their needs to the side.”

Henry is intentional about spacing out readings to preserve his mental and physical health. But if he waits too long to tap into his abilities, he starts to feel the need to “blow off that steam."

“Either I will start getting a lot of impressions about my partner and what’s going on with his family at home or I’ll start randomly feeling almost like an itch you have to scratch. I’ll be like, ‘Hey, mom, do you have any friends that are going through anything right now?’” he says.

What he hopes viewers, including skeptics, take from the show

Henry says he’s less focused on convincing people of his abilities than he is on providing a “meaningful, evocative experience to someone who really needs it.”

But he has connected with skeptics, too — and there are many, as a cursory Google search will unearth.

“I’ve sat with so many people that started off as skeptics who were willing to sit with me and have a conversation and they were ultimately able to turn into believers, or at least I was able to move that needle a little bit closer to the realm of belief,” he says.

After years of doing readings, Henry has come to big conclusions.

“I think it really does remind us of not just the universal experience of loss, but the love that informs that grief. That is universal and that transcends all ideology. I hope that people take away from it an understanding that we are a lot more alike than different,” he says.

His readings have changed his approach to life, too. "It’s more than a job,” he says.

“It's just given me an appreciation for the present moment. It’s allowed me to not sweat the small stuff. It’s allowed me to really focus on the discernment between what I can control and what I can’t. And in finding that balance, there’s a lot of peace,” he says.

Henry hopes his viewers can take something similar away from watching his readings.

“In learning from other people’s regrets and mistakes and what they would have done differently, we’re able to truly learn — not from a place of judgment but from a place of ensuring that those mistakes didn’t go to waste,” he says.
